About the AT Internet audience measurement tool :

AT Internet's audience measurement tool Analytics is deployed on this site in order to obtain information on visitors' navigation and to improve its use.

Genetic analysis of health and feed efficiency in cattle

Key activities and required skills

Improving animal health and feed efficiency is a major goal for the development of more agro-ecological and lower-input production systems that limit impacts on the environment. Genomic selection greatly facilitates the inclusion of such new traits in selection objectives, even if they are lowly heritable or difficult or expensive to measure. The successful candidate will develop research on the genetic architecture of traits related to the use of feed and health in cattle. He/she will have access to data sets that provide a wealth of information about phenotypes, genotypes and genomic sequences from experimental units or national databases. He/she will join a team with the necessary skills and resources, with scientists that have strong international visibility. These studies will contribute to the SelGen metaprogramme.

Training required

PhD or equivalent. Skills in quantitative and applied genetics, data analysis are highly desirable. A good knowledge of livestock production and breeding would be an asset. The ability to work in a team is recommended. Candidates should have a good command of English, and long-term international experience would also be desirable. Successful candidates who have not yet acquired postdoctoral training will be required to do so, preferably abroad, after their probationary period (1st year) and before being eligible for promotion to an Experienced Research Scientist position (CR1).
