Publishing in a scientific journal with children/teenagers as reviewers

The GiBBS team just published a "core concept" Mathematics article on big data, data sciences, and algorithms in the journal Frontiers in Young Minds. A very enriching experience with young reviewers!

The scientific journal Frontiers in Young Minds is an open-access journal for children and teenagers with a very original concept: the peer-reviewers are children/teenagers in pairs with a scientific mentor. The articles are either a recent scientific "new discovery" article or a "core concept" article that is developed on several different scientific fields (astronomy, biodiversity, health, mathematics, neuroscience, ...).

The journal publishes cutting-edge research with the help of young scientists, aged between 8 and 15 years of age, who participate in the publication process. The journal has been recognized for its reviewing process, its user-friendly web site, its informative visual supports (notably its brightly colored cartoons) and its written content accessible to children.

Andrea Rau, a biostatistics and data scientist and researcher at INRAE in the GiBBS team, develops statistical models and writes computer code in the R language to help biologists find interesting models from their genomic data. She submitted a "core concept" paper for the Mathematics collection on big data, data sciences and algorithms that was recently published. A nice writing experience!
