Eighteen participants from nine European countries (Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Slovakia, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, France) followed theoretical and practical courses on bioinformatics and biostatistics methods for the analysis of 16s rRNA sequencing data.

They also had a glimpse at the potential offered by quantitative metagenomics approaches and how to use the pig gut microbiome gene catalogue.
