PI2A “Protein intake and intestinal adaptation”

Scientific activity of Team PI2A

Team PI2A (F. Blachier) performs studies on the impact of the quantity and quality of dietary proteins (animal and plant proteins) on the caracteristics of the intestinal content (composition and activity of the microbiota, bacterial metabolites concentrations, physico-chemical characteristics) and the consequences on the metabolism and physiology of intestinal epithelial cells (energy metabolism, epithelium renewal, barrier function between the content and blood, cellular ADN integrity). This impact is evaluated in healthy individuals, but also in situation of intestinal inflammation, and in situation of epithelial repair after an inflammatory episode. The team is also interested by the consequences of the quantity of different dietary protein sources consumed by the mother on the offspring phenotype. More recently, the team has begun studies on the impact of the metabolic activity of the intestinal microbiota on the bone quality.
